Farris Engineering - Safety Relief Valves
Since the early 1940s, the Farris Engineering unit of Curtiss-Wright Flow Control has designed and produced a wide range of spring-loaded and pilot-operated pressure relief valves. Used as safety devices, they prevent over pressurization of vessels, pipelines, and equipment. Farris is a recognized leader in the hydrocarbon processing, refinery, petrochemical, natural gas production and transmission, pharmaceutical, and general processing industries worldwide.
A pioneer in the field, Farris Engineering created many products that remain industry standards. Integrating its core hardware technology with the information age, Farris originated computer software to assist customers in the sizing and selection of valves. A recent reorganization of manufacturing plants and processes maximized production effectiveness to position the business unit at the forefront of the industry, with service and delivery second to none.

2600 Series Flanged Process Safety Relief Valve
ASME Sec. VIII Certified for air, steam, vapor and liquid services. Designed to API 526 standards. Inlet sizes offered from 1” to 20”. Orifice Sizes from D (0.150 in2) to Z (176.7 in2). Set pressure from 15 psig to 6000 psig. The 2600 series is easily converted from conventional to bellows design, metal seat to soft seat, vapor trim to liquid trim with a minimum of parts, making it the most flexible process safety relief valve on the market.

3800 Series Pilot Operated Safety Relief Valve
The 3800 series piloted operated safety relief valves operate bubble tight at higher operating pressures than conventional spring loaded safety relief valves, allowing processes to run much closer to the system’s maximum allowable working pressure. The 3800 series allows maximum product throughput, increased system profitability, and reduced fugitive emissions. It is offered with both snap acting and modulating controls. Available in API orifices D through T as well as full bore nozzles. Set pressures range from 15 psig to 6170 psig. Standard material is carbon steel main valve with 316SS trim and pilot control. Optional materials are available.

4200 Series Steam Safety Valve
The 4200 series is Farris’ newest offering. The 4200 series is both ASME Sec. I and Sec. VIII certified for steam service. The full nozzle design allows for longer life and ease of maintenance since the nozzle is easier to remove and to service than competitive designs which use semi-nozzle construction. Offered in orifice sizes from 0.316 in2 to 11.392. Set pressure from 15 psig to 1000 psig.
